Succulent plants are one of the easiest to grow. So many of the succulent plants produce the most beautiful colours in their flowers and foliage.

Normally I do not suggest any plants that you can not eat and just “look” nice but these were salvaged from a poor environment so we have a small history with them. Certain succulents also make wonderful companion plants. Many gardeners allow other plants to grow and vine over the succulents making them useful in vertical gardening as well. Succulents normally pull up water into the leaves and stem, the roots normally stay close to the surface, and in some cases there may be more photosynthesis from the stem when compared to the leaves. I have found that water every few days is fine but once or twice a year I spend a week or two with watering daily. Succulents include aloe, cacti, agave, and many other varieties. Cloning Succulents Certainly the easiest plant that I have cloned is the succulent. The succulents that I have been working grow small shoots under the soil that can be cut off and planted in soil with good drainage. Normally I wait until there is about 4-6 inches of stem and a full group of leaves before cutting the new plant off of the mother plant. It seems to take a few months before the plant has developed a significant root structure but once the roots have grown the plant should stay healthy for years to come even with very little watering. If you are not able to water the succulent regularly it will normally not grow quickly
